The Warrants Division is a three part
operation under the direction of Captain Greg Peel. It consists of
Warrants service officers, in house Deputies, and the Transportation
section.
In 2005 the Warrants officers served in excess of 10,000
court criminal documents. These officers are tasked with the duties to
locate and arrest wanted persons residing in Bay County. These
warrants may be issued in local courts or the courts of other counties and
states.
The In-House Deputies are Deputies assigned to insure the transactions
between the court system and the jail is conducted correctly. This
year these Deputies collected over 1.5 million dollars in bonds, fines, and
purges for the court. These Deputies took over 10,000 inmates to court
for their first appearance before a local judge. The In-House Deputies
are also responsible for running breath tests on suspected driving under the
influence defendants. The Deputies ran 275 of these tests in 2005.
In addition they took the fingerprints of more than 1150 persons who were
applying for jobs that require background checks or of persons who must
register as convicted felons in our County.
The transportation Deputies transported over 1500 prisoners to serve state
time at the Florida Department of Corrections, or to be brought back to Bay
County for other court cases. They traveled over 125,000 miles in the
year of 2005.
