The Bay County Sheriff’s Office made two arrests yesterday after a tip about stolen property led investigators to a home on Gray Avenue in Panama City.
As he approached the residence, the investigator spotted a trailer in the front yard that he recognized from another case involving a stolen trailer. He recognized the trailer as the one reported stolen, took pictures, and sent them to the victim in that case. The victim confirmed it was the stolen trailer.
Additional investigators came to the home and a request was made to the Panama City Police Department for assistance. They sent two detectives.
Contact was made with the two men living on the property who refused to allow law enforcement access to the property or home to search. A search warrant was obtained.
During the search, a Toyota Tundra was found in the backyard. It had been reported stolen earlier in the day. A search of an apartment in the back yard revealed about 30 grams of methamphetamine, manufactured drug paraphernalia, and blank cards used to make false identification cards.
The two men living on the property were arrested. Brian Jeffrey Simpson, age 35, was charged with Grand Theft of the trailer. William Gary Riggleman, Jr., age 47, was the resident of the apartment in the backyard where the narcotics were found. He was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Manufacture of Drug Paraphernalia, and Fraud—Possession of Driver’s License Blanks or ID’s.
The investigation continues and charges related to the stolen Tundra are expected.
