The Hostage Negotiations Team is composed of four Deputies who have special training and
experience in communication with armed subjects, suicidal persons, and hostage takers.
Hostage Negotiation Team members are on call 365 days per year, 24 hours per day.
The Hostage Negotiation Team concentrates on ending violent situations by
effectively talking with people and helping them to realize that a peaceful agreement is
always the best answer. The Team is continually involved in joint training
operations with surrounding law enforcement offices as well as other state and federal
agencies.
Whatever the situation, the Hostage Negotiations Team responds as a Team with one goal in
mind: The peaceful resolution to a crisis situation without the use of force or loss of
life. Their efforts help keep Citizens, Deputies, and offenders from being injured.
