The Field Services Division is under the command of Major Ricky Ramie.
Major Ricky Ramie was born in upstate New York in 1970, and moved to Bay County in 1972. He was educated in the Bay County School System attending Millville Elementary, Patterson 6th Grade Center, Rosenwald Jr. High and graduated in 1988 from Bay High School.
After High School, he worked at Shipwreck Island Water Park as the Aquatics Manager. He started Gulf Coast Community College in 1989 earning a Certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician.
In 1991, he enrolled at Gulf Coast Community College attending Law Enforcement Standards, LEBS Class 55, shooting Top Gun of his class. In the fall of 1991, he joined the Bay County Sheriff's Office Auxiliary and was hired in November of 1992 as a full time Deputy.
Major Ramie worked as a Patrol Deputy for 3 years and was promoted to Criminal Investigator in 1995. In 1997, Major Ramie was promoted by Sheriff Guy Tunnell to Sergeant and was transferred back to Patrol. In 1999, Major Ramie was promoted by Sheriff Guy Tunnel to the rank of Lieutenant in the Patrol Division where he served as a Platoon Commander until August of 2004.
Sheriff Frank McKeithen promoted Major Ramie to the rank of Captain commanding the Special Investigations Division. In 2009, Major Ramie was transferred to the Patrol Division as the Patrol Commander. Major Ramie remained in that position commanding the Patrol Division until being promoted by Sheriff Tommy Ford to the rank of Major of Law Enforcement Operations.
He has been a part of several specialty teams to include the SWAT Team, SWAT Commander, Hostage Negotiator, and Honor Guard. He is married and has 2 children and 3 step children. Major Ramie is a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church.
