| Panhandle Crime Stoppers is a non-profit corporation,
which gives financial incentive for those who witness or have knowledge of a crime to take
that information to law enforcement. Its board of directors is made up of local
citizens. No tax dollars are used to pay the rewards, and all reward proceeds
contributed by concerned citizens and businesses are tax deductible. Crime Stoppers
helps promote crime prevention before a crime is committed. The citizens no matter
what age, young or old, can make a difference being the eyes and ears of our community. Crime Stoppers works because it allows a person to call anonymously and because it provides cash rewards for calls that lead to the arrest of felony criminal offenders. No one has ever been asked his/her name when calling in a tip. Crime Stoppers provides the television stations re-enactment's weekly on major unsolved crimes that effect the Bay County area. By re-enacting unsolved crimes, we hope to spark someone's memory, thus helping Law Enforcement solve the crime. TIPS are called in to (850) 785-TIPS. That information is recorded and forwarded to Crime Stoppers. The information is faxed or delivered daily to all Law Enforcement agencies in the Bay County area. In turn, the Law Enforcement agencies keep Crime Stoppers informed if there has been an arrest made due to the tip called in. The tipster is given the administrative line to call back if an arrest has been made. When the tipster calls in to the administrative line, he/she is directed on how to pick up the reward. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward up to $1000 on a tip that leads to an arrest.
