The Beach Patrol is comprised of five deputies whose main responsibility is patrolling the 18 miles of beach within Bay County.  The unit responds to calls for service on the sandy beach utilizing 4 wheel drive trucks and ATV's.

Each member of this unit is certified in water rescue and responds to calls for swimmer's in distress and other water related emergencies.  The unit also helps educate visitor's on the flag warning system and the danger's of swimming during red flag conditions.

The unit is also responsible for enforcing County ordinances that pertain to the beach.  Some of these ordinances are:

  • No Pets Allowed on the Beach
  • No Glass Containers Allowed on the Beach
  • No Driving on the Beach without authorized permits
  • No Fireworks on the Beach
