April 27, 2007 Ruth Sasser, PAS For Immediate Release 747-4700, ext. 2117 Afternoon Raid Nets Five Illegals On April 26, 2007, at about 2:30 pm, investigators from the Bay County Sheriffs Office and officers from the Panama City Beach Police Department spoke to several construction site supervisors about FSS 448.09 which deals with the hiring of undocumented workers. When they approached the Sea Haven construction site on Front Beach Road on Panama City Beach, several dozen workers fled into nearby woods. Deputies pursued and arrested 5 males on a charge of Resisting an Officer Without Violence. Arrested yesterday at the Sea Haven construction site was Alberto Castillo, DOB 10/5/77, a transient, Rufino Martinez, DOB 9/3/88, a transient, Jose Ramano-Garcia, DOB 11/18/88, who listed his address as simply Panama City Beach, Jose Eglicerio-Hernandez, DOB 10/26/64, a transient, and Carlos Lora Martinez, DOB 5/27/86, who according to ICE is currently involved in removal proceedings in Naples, Florida. Rufino Martinez, according to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement database, has made application for citizenship. Investigation on the possible citation of the Sea Haven construction business is pending further investigation. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been notified. Prepared by R.
