                                                           Two Apprehended on Flyover Identified

Two men taken into custody by Bay County Sheriffs Office Deputies yesterday afternoon after abandoning their vehicles on the eastbound flyover from Panama City Beach to the Hathaway Bridge, have been identified.

Arevalo Madrigal, DOB 5/18/79, and Carmen Hernandez, DOB 7/16/78, both of 3520 St. Johns Way, Panama City, were arrested when they, along with numerous others, abandoned vehicles on the flyover when they spotted several Bay County Sheriffs Office vehicles approaching with lights and sirens running. The deputies were responding to a call for assistance from a Warrants Deputy on the flyover who was in pursuit of a prisoner attempting escape.

Madrigal and Hernandez were still on the flyover when deputies arrived. When approached, they fought the deputy and were taken into custody for Resisting with Violence. During an interview with a Spanish speaking investigator, Madrigal and Hernandez stated that all that fled on foot had assumed the vehicles they saw with lights and sirens were coming for them because they were all undocumented.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been notified. All seven abandoned vehicles were towed off the flyover. These vehicles can be claimed with proper proof of ownership.
