String of Burglaries
Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Bay County
Sheriffs Office are looking for at least two white males in a white truck
they believe to be responsible for a string of seven recent home burglaries.
Between April 8 and April 13, seven home burglaries occurred primarily on
Panama City Beach. One burglary was on a residence on Moates Avenue in
Panama City, but investigators suspect it may be related since a white truck
was spotted in the area during the time of the burglary.
All burglaries took place during the daytime hours. Some homes had forced
entries with flower pots thrown through windows or doors pried open. At one
home it appears the suspects entered through a door that had been left
unlocked. Once inside, it appears the suspects are very thorough and take
time to go through most drawers in the home. Items taken include the usual
items taken in a burglary like jewelry and tools, however, some items are
unusual for a theft and include old Christmas cards, cologne, ladies
clothing and shoes, mens clothing, Girl Scout patches, cosmetics, and
personal papers like birth certificates and wedding certificates.
Witnesses describe two white males and a white, full size pick up truck,
possibly a dually with flared wheel wells. The truck is a clean, late model
truck in good condition. One suspect is described as white with short red
hair, in his late 30's or early 40's, about 5'9" and 170 pounds. He was
wearing a brimless cap or do-rag. The other suspect is also a white male,
with dark hair on the sides of his head and bald on the top. He is about 6
ft. and 225 pounds.
Investigators believe the suspects may be casing neighborhoods and observing
homes that are later burglarized. If anyone has any information about these
suspects please call Investigator Daffin at the Bay County Sheriffs Office
at 747-4700, ext. 2621, or CrimeStoppers at 785-TIPS. If anyone sees a white
pick up truck parked in their neighborhood that does not appear to be owned
by a neighbor, please call the Bay County Sheriffs Office Communications
Center at 747-4700.
