                                                                                  Project 25

Project 25, the Bay County Sheriffs Office annual toy drive for needy children, is currently underway in Bay County. For twenty six years, deputies and employees of the BCSO have gathered donations of new toys and cash through out November and December to provide for children who might not have anything at Christmas.

Cash donations are collected and then spent at WalMart in Callaway during Shopping Night. Members of the community are asked to gather to shop for the kids. This year, Shopping Night will be held on December 12, 2006, at 6 pm at WalMart in Callaway. Each person will be given a card with the age and sex of the child and the amount of money that can be spent from donated funds on each child. Everyone is invited to this community tradition.

Purchased toys and donated toys are then gathered and presented to the children by Sheriff McKeithen and special guest Santa Claus at a Christmas party to be held on December 15, 2006.

This year the needs are great with over 400 children already on the list for help from Project 25. Donations are urgently needed.

If you would like to donate new, unwrapped toys or cash please come to the Bay County Sheriffs Office at 3421 N. Hwy. 77 in Panama City and ask for Ms. Becky Johns, chairperson of Project 25.
