Two Arrested for Torching Stolen Vehicle

Bay County Sheriffs Office investigators have arrested two males in connection with the deliberate burning of a stolen vehicle.

On October 6, 2006, a 1995 Ford Explorer was stolen from a residence at 6152 Pippin Road, Panama City. The SUV was involved in a single car accident at the corner of Brandon and Maude Roads, off of John Pitts Road. When the car was set on fire, the sound of the explosion alerted residents nearby who called the Bay County Sheriffs Office and Fire Department.

The resulting investigation led to Joshua M. Ray and Conan Alexander Everett. Investigators believe Ray and Everett stole the vehicle, went joyriding and then wrecked the Explorer. In an effort to destroy any evidence linking them to the incident, it is believed the two poured gasoline over the interior of the vehicle and set it on fire.

Ray, DOB 2/9/89, of 5530 Arnold Rd., and Everett, DOB 7/23/88, of 6027 John Pitts Road, have been arrested and charged with Grand Theft. Additional charges are expected from the Fire Marshalls Office.
